Fort McHenry Composite Squadron Gives the "Gift of Life" |

CATONSVILLE, Md – On Saturday, 21 August 2010, eight members from the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron sponsored the unit’s 21st quarterly blood drive at the Maryland National Guard Armory located in Catonsville, Maryland. The event, which was organized by Major Doug Barth and coordinated by the American Red Cross, produced 14 pints of life-saving blood for the local community for a total of 489 pints since the squadron’s quarterly program was initiated by Maj Barth. |

Washington D.C. - Between 13 and 15 August 2010, six members of the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron hosted 30 World War II veterans and their guardians during a weekend visit to the Washington D.C. area. These individuals from San Antonio, Texas were part of the epic journey of veterans from the city's Alamo Honor Flight to the capitol region.

Chesapeake Bay - On Sunday, 01 Aug 2010, four members of the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron sustained the Maryland Wing's efforts to ensure the safety of hundreds of boaters in the Chesapeake Bay and maintained a watchful eye against terrorist activities. Captain Marty Sacks flew as mission pilot for the morning Bay Patrol sortie with Captain Larry Moore as mission observer, First Lieutenant Chris Striker as duty officer and Senior Member Jake Kellogg as mission radio operator.

Andrews A.F.B., Maryland - On Monday, 02 August 2010, two members from the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron acted as ambassadors to four international air cadets and two escorts from the United Kingdom and New Zealand. The event, which was planned by Capt Larry Moore through the 316th Wing Public Affairs on Andrews, began when Lt Col Steinmeier and Capt Moore met the six exchange members outside Andrews Air Force Base and escorted them onto the facility. Once there, they were met by United States Air Force, Senior Airman Katie Spencer from the 316th Wing Public Affairs Office.

Baltimore, MD - On Saturday, 31 July 2010, six members of the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron joined volunteers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Boy Scouts of America and the Fort Meade Enlisted Spouses Club in greeting 32 World War II veterans at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshal Airport. This event, which was sponsored by the Honor Flight Network, was the third veteran greet during the month of July that members of the squadron volunteered to support. |
